Hi everyone!

This week we had two new articles come out! We also accepted new members and we now have 100+ members! We are so excited to keep expanding and start up new projects!

This week, I read an article on ScienceNews titled Steroids reduce deaths of critically ill COVID-19 patients, WHO confirms by Tina Hesman Saey. The article summarized how the WHO collected data from various studies and clinical trials on steroid use on COVID patients. They found that there was a lower percent chance of death in the patients given steroids than the ones who were not.

At first, I felt like this was somewhat of a relief that there was something that could slightly work until a vaccine comes. But, the article also explains that if steroids are given to people with less severe cases of COVID, it could further suppress their immune system and make it worse. I think it is still good that it can be helpful to those with severe cases as those people may be the ones more likely to pass away from it. Hopefully, there is something else that could help less severe patients as we continue to research and test to find a vaccine.
